Open Farm Sunday at Rectory Farm, Buckinghamshire
On Sunday 9th June, at the invitation of farmer and McDonald’s Sustainable Beef Club member Stephen Hobbs and family, E-CO2 were asked to provide a stand to represent the greenhouse gas reduction project at the LEAF Open Farm Sunday Event hosted at his farm.
With attractions including a trailer farm tour, displays of classic and modern machinery, beef cattle, feed processing ‘mill-and-mix’ lorry, newly hatched chicks, paper and velum manufacturing and stands distributing information relating to a variety of agricultural organisations, it proved to be a varied and informative day.
E-CO2 were represented by Chris Davies who ran a TRUE or FALSE carbon footprint competition, offering those who entered the chance to win £20 in Marks & Spencer vouchers. There were a high number of entries and a draw took place between all the ones with the correct answers. People were interested to know about some of the environmental issues effecting British and Irish agriculture.
Mr & Mrs Hobbs declared that the event was; “a great success & many feedback forms comment upon gaining further knowledge about carbon footprint, environmental awareness and methane!”.
